FAQs
Are these products expired?
Never! We have a system where we do not pick up products until an order arrives. We keep a close inventory count from what our suppliers currently have in stock. This ensures we provide the freshest products possible.
Are dates of expiry shown differently in Canada?
Yes, in fact they are! In Canada, dates are shown by Day/Month/Year, while often in the US and other countries, they're shown as Month/Day/Year.
Especially confusing, is that in Canada, often expiry dates are shown as simply Month/Day (Example: JN 19). This means the product expires on June 19th of this current year.
Do you ship your items from Canada or the United States?
Combination of both, your items are safely packed in Canada. Then we have a driver bring your packages to a distribution center in Montana. Once the packages have arrived, they are forwarded to you with all major US couriers (USPS, UPS, Fedex)
Unfortunately, states and territories such as Hawaii, Alaska Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico US Virgin Islands, and all APO/FPO are much more expensive to ship to so additional shipping charges will apply.
Will I be charged any duty fees?
If you are ordering from within the United States, all duty/import fees are covered by us, which is included in the price of the item. Orders outside the United States will be the responsibility of the buyer to pay all applicable import/duty fees.
What taxes will I pay on my order?
Customers who reside in the United States will not be charged taxes on orders.
How long will it take my order to reach me?
At Canadian Munch, we always try to get your packages out as soon as possible, but sometimes packages can have slight delays at the border, weather, suppliers' current stock, etc. If you are concerned about the status of your package, please contact us.
What is your 'satisfied guaranteed' policy?
We do everything in our power to ensure everything you order is packed and shipped correctly, but if an issue does arise, we will address it and do everything we can to correct the problem. We strive to create a positive experience for all customers.
What if I can't find what I'm looking for on your store?
Please contact us. We more than likely will be able to find it! You will receive a reply within 24 hours about your inquiry.
What is a best before date?
A "best-before" date, also known as a durable life date, tells you when the durable life period of a prepackaged food ends.
Durable life means the anticipated amount of time that an unopened food product, when stored under appropriate conditions, will retain its freshness,
taste, nutritional value, or any other qualities claimed by the manufacturer.
This information is usually found on the label with the words "best before" and "meilleur avant".
The best-before date indicates to consumers that if the product has been properly handled (stored under conditions appropriate to that product), the unopened product should be of high quality until the specified date.
Best-before dates do not guarantee product safety. However, they do give you information about the freshness and potential shelf-life of the unopened foods you are buying.
It is important to note that a best-before date is not the same as an expiration date.
For more information on food labelling, please visit the Government of Canada's site.
Selling foods that are past the best-before dates
It is not illegal to sell a product if its best-before date has passed. However, when this date has passed, the food may lose some of its freshness and flavour, or its texture may have changed. Some of its nutritional value, such as vitamin C content, may also be lost.
What are packaging dates?
"Packaged on" dates are similar to "best-before" date but are used on retail-packed foods with a durable life date of 90 days or less, and must be accompanied by durable life information either on the label or on a poster next to the food. The durable life information can be expressed several ways, for example, the number of days a product will retain its freshness, or a best-before date. Together, the "packaged on" date and durable life information tell consumers about the anticipated amount of time that an unopened food product will retain its quality and freshness.

What is an expiration date?
An expiration date is not the same as a best-before date. Expiration dates are required only on certain foods that have strict compositional and nutritional specifications which might not be met after the expiration date.
Expiration dates must be used on the following products:
- formulated liquid diets (nutritionally complete diets for people using oral or tube feeding methods)
- foods represented for use in a very low-energy diet (foods sold only by a pharmacist and only with a written order from a physician)
- meal replacements (formulated food that, by itself, can replace one or more daily meals)
- nutritional supplements (food sold or represented as a supplement to a diet that may be inadequate in energy and essential nutrients)
- human milk substitutes (infant formula)
After the expiration date, the food may not have the same nutrient content declared as on the label.
Food should not be bought, sold or eaten if the expiration date has passed. It should be discarded.

What is your return policy?
Canadian Munch is always here to help, and we understand that things do go wrong in the manufacturing plant. We encourage you to reach out to us regarding a refund, exchange, or return. Please understand we cannot accept opened packages of food, drinks, and other products for refunds. Please take care to examine your package on the day it arrives, so that you can make us aware of any issues immediatley.
Also, note that we are not responsible for products that have been melted or damaged by temperature and shipping. Please ensure that the package does not sit outside in the elements on your delivery day. Please help us by providing photographs of the damaged product to help us improve our shipping techniques.
Return Procedure
We must approve all returns and refunds. Any claims (such as incorrect items in your shipment, damage to the contents, etc.) must be made within 14 days of your order being delivered. Canadian Munch will charge a 40% restocking fee on all pre-approved return merchandise.
We will refund the cost of your products, minus restocking, shipping charges, and duty fees back to Canada. When the return is approved, has been received, and reviewed as a new sealed re-sellable product, we will then move forward with the refund/exchange process. To qualify, individual packages must be unopened & unaltered. Canadian Munch is not responsible for the cost of shipping back to our warehouse unless the product was either defective or different from the items ordered. This does not include packages that have been redesigned by the manufacturer - remember, food and drink companies may change the "Aesthetic" of their products at any time.
Please ensure that you have received something other than what you ordered before contacting us for a refund/replacement. We will not be responsible for manufacturer changes in packaging that may not precisely match our photographs.
If you have questions about these policies or procedures, please feel free to contact us.
